Why does Hannah Ayla eat soup everyday?

Hannah Ayla, soup, Hannah Stombler-Levine,

I think my favorite corner of TikTok I have ever found is #SoupTok. I am an avid soup eater, I try to eat it every day…and usually succeed. This habit formed a long time ago, and I want to say my dad really was the enabler of my soup addiction. I have 2 sisters, and while we were growing up my dad was in charge of waking us up and getting us ready for school. We attended 3 different schools, with 3 different start times, which I’m sure you can imagine, makes for a hectic morning. Nonetheless, every weekday my dad would wake each of us up and ask us what we wanted for breakfast. He would then make 3 separate breakfast for all of us.

My younger sister always wanted crepes or pancakes, while my older sister tended to want cereal or ramen. As all younger sisters do, I wanted to be cool and would also request ramen.
So, my dad would take a packet of top ramen for me and my middle sister, and add in vegetables from the garden and tofu to try and make it a complete breakfast. As the years went on, I started requesting different types of soup and my sweet dad would always make them. He routinely made fresh homemade soup for me before school.

When I left for college, I missed my family so much and began making cups of noodles every morning for breakfast. When I got my first apartment, I learned to make different soups and would heat them up for breakfast in the morning. All of my roommates thought I was insane, but later on I learned that I do have other fellow soup addicts who also have soup for breakfast!

As an adult, I usually make a large pot of soup at the beginning of every week and have a bowl for breakfast, in fact, I have now learned that there are many health benefits to including soup in your daily diet. According to Campbell’s, one of the world’s largest makers of soup here are 4 good reasons to have soup for breakfast:

  1. Soup can easily get you your 5 a day! Many soups are chock full of nutritious vegetables, making it easy to hit your nutritional benchmarks first thing in the morning.

  2. It keeps you warm on a cold day.

  3. It’s easily transported! Pop your soup in a thermos and you have an easy on-the-go meal.

  4. The combinations and varieties are endless. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different soups you can try from cultures all around the world, making the flavor possibilities truly limitless.

Since my childhood, my dad has perfected many soup recipes and I love going home and trying his soups. Some of my favorites include Tom Kha, Minestrone, and my moms Greek Lemon Egg Soup.
